Augustus: AI Project Lead
Retenta's flagship skill: an agent that kicks off or resumes a software project, interviews the owner, keeps docs/ and GitHub Issues as one record, and delegates work through approved plans and reviewed pull requests.
Editorial assessment
This is a source-only assessment. It does not claim runtime or security testing.
What it does
Augustus gives a coding agent a complete operating model for running a project rather than a single task: it separates kickoff from resume, makes the owner the only decision-maker, and keeps a durable written record that the next session can pick up without re-asking settled questions.
Best for
- Starting a new software project with an agent from an empty folder or an inherited codebase
- Resuming a project across sessions, machines, or different agent CLIs
- Coordinating several agents on one repository through issues, branches, and pull requests
Strengths in the source
- Requires owner approval before dispatching work and before anything hard to undo, such as creating repositories or paid cloud resources.
- Pairs docs/ with GitHub Issues and gives a reconcile step for when the two disagree.
- Treats retrieved text as information rather than instructions, which matters when it runs next to a knowledge base.
- Ends every session with a written next step, so work does not depend on chat history.
Limitations
- It is a process skill: it directs how work is organized and recorded, not how any particular stack is built.
- The specialist roster (Agrippa, Cicero, Seneca, Fabius, Vitruvius) is named but not yet published, so Augustus covers those roles itself.
- CLI skill locations and hook support change between versions; the skill tells the agent to verify them rather than asserting them.
When not to use it
- One-off questions or small edits that need no project record
- Repositories where the team already runs a different planning and review process the agent must follow

Install from the source
This installs SKILL.md only. The overview, todo-list and decisions templates belong to the full skill folder; without them Augustus builds those files from the section lists in its own instructions. Other agents adopt it through the AGENTS.md or GEMINI.md line described in the skill.
